Algeria has introduced a national hydrogen strategy with the goal of providing Europe with 10% of its clean hydrogen requirements by 2040.

Funding from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Will Advance Electrolysis Technology, Reduce the Cost of Clean Hydrogen and Fuel Cells, and Provide Long-term Support for Hydrogen Hubs.

This report is the result of collaboration between the B.C. Centre for Innovation & Clean Energy, Deloitte, (S&T)2 Consultants, and the B.C. Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation. Our teams have worked closely to obtain and validate data inputs and assumptions required to model carbon intensities of hydrogen production pathways that are realistic and representative for British Columbia.

Turkey's Hydrogen Technologies Strategy and Roadmap, outlined by the Ministry, emphasizes the nation's commitment to a sustainable energy future, targeting carbon neutrality by 2053. Leveraging its rich renewable energy potential and aiming to reduce green hydrogen production costs, Turkey envisions becoming a significant player in the global hydrogen market, with strategies spanning from transportation to industry and renewable energy integration.

India's "NATIONAL GREEN HYDROGEN MISSION" aims to establish the country as a global hub for Green Hydrogen production, usage, and export, leveraging its vast renewable energy resources. With a target to produce at least 5 Million Metric Tonne (MMT) of Green Hydrogen annually by 2030, the mission outlines a phased approach, emphasizing technology scaling, cost reduction, and infrastructure development for a comprehensive Green Hydrogen ecosystem.

Namibia's "Green Hydrogen and Derivatives Strategy" outlines the nation's ambition to harness its renewable energy resources for green hydrogen production, aiming to contribute up to US$6 billion to its GDP and create 80,000 jobs by 2030. The strategy envisions exporting hydrogen products globally, establishing three hydrogen valleys within the country, and fostering a green fuel ecosystem across Southern Africa.

Ballard Power Systems' "Hydrogen Facts" document highlights hydrogen as a clean, safe, and abundant energy carrier, primarily produced through steam methane reforming in North America. The document emphasizes hydrogen's diverse production methods, its safety comparable to other flammable fuels, and its straightforward fueling process, positioning Ballard as a leader in clean energy fuel cell products.

Singapore envisions low-carbon hydrogen as a cornerstone for its net-zero ambitions by 2050, especially given its limited renewable energy resources. Emphasizing its role in decarbonizing various sectors, from power to maritime, Singapore's strategy focuses on advanced hydrogen projects, R&D, international partnerships, infrastructure planning, and workforce development, while seeking global collaboration to maximize hydrogen's potential.

The federal hydrogen strategy aims to prepare Belgium for the climate challenges, alongside the technological, political and economical challenges of the coming decades. This strategy is based on 4 pillars.

The document titled "Thesen zur künftigen Bedeutung von Wasserstoff in der Schweizer Energieversorgung" discusses the future significance of hydrogen in Switzerland's energy supply.

Successful Deployment of Carbon Management and Hydrogen Economies in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

Uruguay, having nearly decarbonized its electricity matrix with 97% renewable energies, is strategically positioned to become a competitive player in the green hydrogen industry. By 2040, the nation aims to produce one million tons of hydrogen annually, potentially generating revenues of 2.1 billion dollars and creating over 35,000 skilled jobs, thereby diversifying its economy and boosting economic development.

The Austrian Federal Government has set the target of achieving climate neutrality in Austria in 2040. One of the key challenges in meeting this target is the transformation of the energy system towards renewable, efficient and safe energy supplies throughout all sectors. Sector-specific requirements call for differentiated solutions to efficiently decarbonize the energy system.

Croatia plans to install 70 megawatts (MW) of hydrogen production facilities by 2030 and 2,750 MW by 2050 to increase its share of total energy consumption from zero to 0.2 percent and 11 percent, respectively, according to the national strategy for hydrogen from 2021 to 2050 that the Croatian Parliament adopted.

Hydrogen energy is abundant, green, and versatile, playing a pivotal role in the global energy transition. This plan aims to foster the hydrogen industry's growth in China from 2021 to 2035.

South Africa's "Hydrogen Society Roadmap" outlines the nation's strategy to harness hydrogen as a sustainable energy source, leveraging its rich renewable resources and strategic advantages in the global hydrogen market. The roadmap emphasizes decarbonizing transport and industries, creating an export market for green hydrogen, and fostering research, innovation, and inclusivity in the hydrogen sector.
