The Pacific Northwest Hydrogen Association (PNWH2) has received Phase 1 award status from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), securing an initial $27.5 million from a potential $1 billion in federal funding under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This phase will involve planning, permitting, and analysis to ensure the Hub's viability.
Chris Green, President of PNWH2, stated, "We are excited to embark on Phase 1 and lead the way in building a new clean energy commodity in the U.S." The PNWH2 Hub will include eight nodes across Washington, Oregon, and Montana, leveraging renewable energy for public transit, agriculture, transport, and the electric power industry. Washington State University will oversee the Community Benefits Plan, ensuring significant benefits for disadvantaged communities, including over 10,000 jobs and STEM education programs.
