Business Finland is an accelerator of global growth. They create new growth by helping businesses go global and by supporting and funding innovations.
Business Finland, a Finnish government entity, focuses on innovation funding and promoting trade, travel, and investment. Their Hydrogen Roadmap analyzes Finland's hydrogen potential through a SWOT analysis. Strengths encompass abundant wind resources, a robust transmission grid, and existing industrial hydrogen use. However, Finland faces challenges like higher electricity costs than its Nordic neighbors and limited geologic storage options. The Roadmap identifies opportunities for low-carbon hydrogen in refining, bio-fuels, steel production, and mobility. It suggests centralized electrolyser units for green hydrogen production, targeting 100,000-150,000 tonnes by 2030.
In 2023, Finland set ambitious hydrogen objectives, aiming to lead Europe in the hydrogen economy and produce 10% of the EU's emissions-free hydrogen by 2030. By June 2023, H2 Cluster Finland, in collaboration with various stakeholders, released a strategy projecting Finland's capability to produce 3 million tons of hydrogen annually by 2035.
