In collaboration with Ranken Technical College, BayoTech has unveiled its first hydrogen hub.
Hi, my name is Roxana, I am the founder and executive director of the US Hydrogen Alliance. I am here today with Mo Vargas, the CEO of BayoTech, one of our members, and we are so excited to celebrate your first Hub today. Thank you so much for having us, and as well as the rest of the industry. Can you tell us a little bit more about this Hub and what your future plans are?
Yeah, well, first of all, thank you very much for coming out. You know, we were excited to have you here for our event. We're really excited because this is really our first Hub of what we expect to be about 14 hubs we're going to build over the next five years. Each one of the hubs is going to be really designed to be distributed by nature, and that way we can take the amount of demand and grow the Hub with the amount of demand that's available, and that's going to be so critical for especially the early deployment and also really hard to Electrify sectors.
Absolutely, the idea is to continue to get the hubs closer and closer until we actually get them on site because once we do that, we can get all the transportation out and then we can start talking about how you can have, you know, $5 compressed, yes, $5 a kilogram, yes, that's the aim. Yeah, well, we want to obviously continue to decarbonize and then obviously continue to drive down price so we can get massive deployment, right?
Okay, well, thank you so much for your great work. So thank you, and we appreciate you guys coming out.
Hi, my name is Zoe, and I'm a Policy and Communications Associate with the United States Hydrogen Alliance. We are here today at BayoTech's first Hydrogen Hub launch event, and I'm here with Gus. If you want to introduce yourself really quick?
Hi, I'm Gus Gonzalez. I work for BayoTech. I'm BayoTech's sales manager for the US central region, and we're very excited to have you here. You know, I understand that this is not the first time you've been in this bus.
Yes, I actually went to the University of Illinois at Urbana champagne and rode this bus many times to class, so it feels awesome to be back here with one of our member companies celebrating the launch of their first Hub and seeing the technology in action.
So is it different for you to be on this bus now that you know everything about hydrogen and you work with hydrogen on a daily basis?
Yes, because honestly, when I first rode it, I had no idea that it was even a hydrogen bus. I thought it was just electric with some cute butterflies on the side, but now, after researching and working for both of you for a little bit now, it's awesome to just see the technology in action and see it being fueled right now.
So thank you for having us. Oh, that's great, actually. It's good that you say that you didn't know it was a hydrogen fuel cell bus because that shows the reliability of hydrogen. That shows that this bus is just like any other bus, and Transit agencies will be able to benefit from low carbon Technologies Without Really affecting the experience of the Riders.
Yes, and it's also much more quiet, so it's very nice to be a nice smooth ride down champagne streets. We'll be happy to serve any Transit Agency that wants to go to fuel cell buses. We provide the infrastructure, we'll provide the fueling Solutions, and more importantly, we'll provide the hydrogen.
Thank you so much for your time. Thank you.
So nice to see you again. This is an amazing grand opening. So what does this actually mean for ports? You have this amazing hub here, number one, but what does it mean for ports?
You know, what's so cool about this is it's such a great location, great facility, is that this small modern design means we can get it close to the user, so we can get close to a fork, we get close to a truck yard, we get close to a rail yard, we can be inside an industrial hub and providing hydrogen there at the local Source there for where it's being used.
Or used that absolutely changes the game from a cost per mile standpoint for moving goods, moving cargo to and from our PS operating cost is everything. Operating cost everything. The cost of ownership is everything, so if you're a trucking company and you're looking to decarbonize your Fleet to meet your customer's demands, this is a good way to do it.
I, it's a good way to do it. Powerful fuel, it's as powerful as the fuel as diesel, but it's zero car, zero emiss. So it's a really good way to do that. This mod Design, This mod Hub allows us to put it at your fail, at your that sounds amazing it is."
