The South Australian Government’s 200MW Whyalla hydrogen plant has received federal approval, marking a key milestone for renewable energy and environmental conservation in the region. Backed by over $402 million in funding, the hydrogen project, developed by the Office of Hydrogen Power South Australia, ATCO Australia, and BOC, is set to enhance grid stability by using excess wind and solar energy to produce consistent, flexible power for South Australian homes and businesses. Construction is expected to start in late 2024, with completion targeted for early 2026.
