Fortescue, an Australia-based global metal mining and green energy company, recently broke ground on a $550 million hydrogen production project in Buckeye, Arizona. This facility, called the Arizona Hydrogen plant, is set to produce 11,000 tons of hydrogen annually, powered by 80 MW of renewable energy. This venture is part of Fortescue's broader clean energy investment strategy in North America, which includes additional projects like a manufacturing plant in Detroit and a green hydrogen production facility in Washington state. Despite this progress, Fortescue's founder, Dr. Andrew Forrest, expressed concerns about potential regulatory changes under the Biden administration's 45V tax credit policy, which could increase costs and slow down the deployment of such projects.
