Nine gas transmission system operators (TSOs) from the Baltic Sea region have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to coordinate and develop hydrogen infrastructure and market development in the area, as announced by German gas grid operator GASCADE Gastransport GmbH. The TSOs involved include Germany's Gascade and ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH, Poland’s GAZ-SYSTEM, Estonia’s Elering, Denmark's Energinet, Finland’s Gasgrid Vetyverkot, Lithuania’s Amber Grid, Sweden’s Nordion Energi, and Latvia’s Conexus Baltic Grid AS. This collaboration aims to build integrated hydrogen infrastructure, leveraging the region's substantial renewable energy resources to supply up to 45% of the clean hydrogen production outlined in the REPowerEU plan by 2030. The development will support hydrogen transmission from supply-rich regions, like Finland, to demand centers in central Europe.
