U.S. towns are shifting from battery electric to hydrogen fuel electric cell buses due to better range and reliability. While battery electric buses have limitations, especially in cold weather, hydrogen fuel cell electric buses can travel up to 300 miles, making them ideal for longer routes. King County, WA, is planning trials by 2026, and Montgomery County, MD, is constructing a renewable energy-powered bus depot. Hydrogen fuel cell electric buses offer better performance in extreme conditions, faster refueling, and significant environmental benefits, positioning them as a promising alternative to battery electric buses in public transportation. We want to congratulate Ballard Power Systems (USHA Founding Member) and New Flyer for providing these buses and the majority of the fuel cell electric buses in the U.S.!
