The UK Government has committed £22 billion toward carbon capture and storage (CCS) and hydrogen projects, with a strong focus on scaling low-carbon hydrogen production. The first large-scale hydrogen projects will be launched in the North West and North East of England, specifically in Merseyside and Teesside, bringing in an estimated £8 billion in private investment. These initiatives aim to decarbonize the UK’s industrial heartlands, create 4,000 new jobs, and help remove over 8.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually. As the UK strengthens its position as a global leader in hydrogen, this investment will play a pivotal role in advancing low-carbon hydrogen technology and infrastructure, fueling the future of clean energy and industrial decarbonization.
