The Rhodium Group conducted an independent analysis exploring the economic benefits of four key hydrogen hubs, ARCHES, ARCH2, Mach2, and HyVelocity, under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The federal government has allocated up to $4.3 billion of the $7 billion earmarked for the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs Program to these projects. By 2030, these hubs are projected to produce between 7,300 and 8,800 metric tons of hydrogen per day. The construction of these hubs is expected to generate between 32,900 and 47,700 jobs annually over a three-year period, with 2,800 to 4,600 jobs annually for ongoing operations. These hubs will utilize a mix of energy sources and hydrogen production methods, including electrolytic hydrogen, SMR with carbon capture, and biohydrogen, to integrate hydrogen into various sectors of the economy, especially those that are hard to decarbonize.
