The European Commission has launched a four-week consultation on a draft act that defines a methodology for assessing emission reductions from low-carbon hydrogen and fuels. This methodology is critical for the EU's revised hydrogen and gas market legislation, ensuring a consistent approach to calculating life cycle emissions for low-carbon fuels, aligned with renewable hydrogen and other advanced fuels. With the EU's hydrogen and gas decarbonization rules now in effect, the need to define low-carbon hydrogen has become urgent. Member states are required to incorporate these rules into national laws by August 2026, marking a significant step toward the EU’s emission reduction goals.
