The Center for Transportation and the Environment has initiated the NorCal Zero project in California, deploying 30 of Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차)’s hydrogen-powered Xcient Fuel Cell electric trucks, marking North America's largest single deployment of such vehicles. Launched with a new hydrogen fueling station in West Oakland, the $53 million initiative aims to enhance zero-emission freight transportation in the San Francisco Bay and Central Valley areas. This effort, which could prevent 24,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions, is part of a broader strategy to build a hydrogen mobility ecosystem across North America and reduce environmental impact in communities affected by diesel emissions.
